Three Sisters

 Three Sisters

The Three Sisters—corn, beans, and squash—references the Haudenosaunee indigenous culture of our region, a living presence that continues today. Evidence of these forms as a symbiotic system of sustainable agriculture, also serves as visual bedrock of cultural and historic presencing in the landscape, while also alluding to the eradication of that history. The Three Sisters series, then, carries the burden of understanding context and highlighting the essential elements of life-giving forms.
