About the Ink Shop and Olive Branch Press

History

Located in Ithaca, NY, The Ink Shop has been a large part of my life since 1999.  I co-founded the Ink Shop with three other artists, Greg Page, Christa Wolf, and Miri Amihai. We started the shop in an old airplane factory on the west side of Ithaca.  We started there with free rent and one loaned etching press. After a fire at our second location in the Handwork building in January 2008, we relocated the Ink Shop to the 2nd floor of the Community School of Music and Arts building, where we are now located.  Please check the Ink Shop website for more information about our current workshops and exhibits at www.ink-shop.org

Raison d’etre

I am motivated by a deep commitment to help other artists gain access to a working printmaking studio, to good instruction in the visual arts, to mentorship and support for creative work, and to a sense of community that celebrates fine art.   I believe there is strength in numbers and the Ink Shop is proof that collaborative cooperation benefits everyone.

What I Do

I wear many hats at the Ink Shop - as an artist, educator, administrator, mentor, community organizer, friend.  In all capacities, though, I am fulfilled by the beauty of fine art, and inspired by the artists who create it.  In the early years I helped to write the by-laws, design the programs, set up the studio, I served on the Board of Directors from the beginning, and held positions as President, Treasurer, Fundraiser, and served on variouis committees including Exhibitions, Fundraising, Professional Development, Gallery Night of Ithaca, and Publicity and Marketing.  I am proud to be part of a grassroots organization, which continues to grow.
